Coming Hurricane, Field Trips, My Thoughts on the Election

In my life this week…
In our homeschool this week…
The kids had a day off from school on Monday, due to my jury duty. Then, we had 2 field trips this week, which meant we had to use our Friday "Art/Music/Health" day as a regular school day. The first place we went was to a Wildlife Refuge Center in our area. The kids LOVE going there, and this time I remembered to take pictures. . . but not so much on our second field trip.

We went to a very small local farm and enjoyed a hayride (which by the way was only $1 per person!!! Most farms charge at least $4 per person). I forgot to bring the camera, but the fall foliage was so beautiful. The weather was just right and my kids were completely thrilled. Hopefully we can go back to enjoy one more ride before the fall is over.

Here are pics from the Wildlife Refuge Center. Please note that the animals in the picture were unfortunately killed illegally by people seeking to sell their fur. The Wildlife Center does NOT condone any killing of wild life for sport, fun, or trade. Since the animals perished, they are on display here as teaching tools, so that we are reminded to treat God's creation with more care and respect.

My babies with the mama polar bear. She is HUGE,
    just about 7 feet tall.

TM pushing some to the buttons to see if she can make the "ducks" fly.
The baby was there too, just enjoying the ride.
He looks like he's trying to whistle!  :)

The girls are pretty excited about taking a picture with grizzly bear.

He's completely uninterested in taking the picture (or the bear for that matter!)
because he thinks his sisters are going to see the wolves without him.

    I am inspired by…
The Bible. . .the very Word of God.
My favorite thing this week was…
Hearing my baby boy say, "Mama," with a smile.
What’s working/not working for us…
We love going to library!! But, I always have such trouble renewing
all of the books on time! It's like I can't keep up and something always seems to be due.
The library has been invaluable to us, especially for history, but my goodness--I need a system!
    Help!!
Questions/thoughts I have…
Why do so many Christians feel like they "must" vote, even when they feel a conflict of interest, even when they don't think either choice for President is in line with the Word of God?
I say, if it doesn't fall in line with the Word of God, then we as Christians, we must reject it and cannot support it in any way. . .period. No dilemma, no uncertainty, no "choosing the lesser of 2 evils." We are held accountable to God for everything we do (including voting). My thought is, vote for those issues and people who clearly fall in line with the Word of God and leave the rest up to Him. He is more than capable to handle EVERY one of our needs.

In other news, I'll be so glad when the election is complete. I don't think I can take another commercial that's been "approved" by someone. :o)

    Things I’m working on…
I'm trying to crochet a tic-tac-toe game for my children. I also hope to compile a list of projects to try for homemade Christmas gifts.
I’m reading…
I’m cooking…
Actually, I'm not cooking right now.
Husband just made a big ol' pot of chili for the weekend!
    It tastes so good!!!
I’m grateful for…
God's forgiveness and all of the Grace and Mercy He has poured into my life.
I’m praying for…
    . . .  safety and protection.

  1. It looks like your children enjoyed their field trip. We always love field trips and I wish we did more of them. I know what you mean about voting. It's good to stand for our convictions. I'll be praying for your family as this storm passes through. We probably won't get it in the north as badly as you, but we're getting the power outage calls too and we're preparing for it as well. God bless you all!

  2. Hi Jennifer,

Sometimes I feel like we don't go on enough field trips, too. I have to choose our outings wisely because everything is so expensive!

Thank you for your prayers--I pray you all will be safe as well.

  3. Yes, with the expense of things choosing is the best we can do. Thank you for praying for us as well. We're safe in His hands aren't we? God's power on display in the storms. He is awesome. :)

  4. My prayers are with you and everyone dealing with Sandy. I live in the deep south and we are "used to" hurricanes/tropical storms and the like, but hardly ever this late in the season. What a fun trip! Your babies seemed to have had a great time! FINALLY! Someone who agrees with me about voting! When the choice is between two evils, I think we should let the Lord choose and trust His Sovereignty. Blessings as you weather this storm. In Him, Lexy

  5. Hi, Lexy. Thanks for stopping by.
We are in the mid-atlantic area and hurricanes coming to shore are rare. Thank you for your prayers.

I feel the same as you do, FINALLY--there's someone else who agrees with ME about voting! :o) God would NEVER ask us to choose evil at all.

    God bless you!
