Thank God, He Forgives

Forgive me Father, for the times when I didn't let my light shine as brightly as it could have, for times when I wasn't salt on this earth as You instructed, for times when I was swayed, persuaded, peer-pressured, all because I didn't stand up for the Truth You placed in my heart. For times when I encouraged others to live for You, yet my words and my actions betrayed You, for times when I knew exactly what I was doing was wrong, yet I chose to do it any way, for times too many to count when I didn't bring Your Holy Name the glory it deserved, when I grieved the sweet, precious, Holy Spirit. Forgive me for my days of unwise choices, unwise decisions that I chalked up to "just being young," times when I thought I was too good, untouchable . . .

Help me to know that no matter where I am, no matter what I say or do, the moment that I identify myself with You, people begin to watch. They watch for my mistakes, my failures, my short-comings, they watch for my responses in tough situations, they watch for the way I deal with sin in my life, someone is always watching. . .Not because I'm perfect or because I've figured it all out, or because I'm the one to watch, but because people want to know You, dear Lord, and how they should live as a follower of Christ . . .

I thank You for the trials, the heartache, the mistakes, the pain, the tears that made me stronger, wiser, and more forgiving. I thank You for allowing me to reach the place that I'm in now--I'm not perfect, I still need Your help, I can't make it on my own--but I get that now. . . that place of getting it now--thank You. Just a little wisdom goes so far. When I look back over my life, and where You've brought me from, I can't help but give You the praise. . .

It is my prayer that You please continue to mold me, shape me, use me for Your service. I know You don't expect perfection--thank You for that. But what You do want is one that is willing and Lord, here I am. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You, one that brings honor to Your Holy Name. . .

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men."
-Matthew 5:13

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
-Matthew 5:16

"For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You."
-Psalm 86:5

Thank you for your prayers. I pray you and you famiy are doing well.

I thouhgt of you (actually your girls) as I just finished reviewing a book. It's called Praying for your Future Husband by Robin Jones Gunn anbd Tricia Goyer. I know your girls are still young but maybe you can put this on their reading list for those soon to come teen years. I'll be posting, my review soon but incase you miss it, I wanted to point it out to you because I thought it was such a blessing - one of those life changing 'treasure books'.

  9. Oh Debbie,

Thank you for thinking of my girls. It sounds like a very good book to put away for later. I'll be looking out for your review on it.

    Take care.
