Busy Season

Hello out there!!!
Oh, Ladies, how I miss my blogging space! I've longed to share the pages of my life with you. But, here's the scoop: I am in a busy season of life right now. No, seriously. Scroll down and relive a few moments with me. . .

APRIL 2013
This month was pretty much a blur! LOL Lots of doctor's appointments, diaper changes, late nights and early mornings. School was sandwiched somewhere in there. . .  My parents were here at some point (from out of town) and I was grateful to have them with us.

MAY 2013
We closed out our regular school year and passed the County's review. Although my reviewer is a sweet, sweet woman, the process itself can be stressful. . . gathering papers, filling out forms weeding out what to keep and what to trash.

My little guy turned 2 months old and went through his first round of immunizations.

Yes, he's BIG, and yes, those are the most kissable cheeks!

We also had flooring done in our home upstairs--switching out the carpet for laminate hardwood. So my upstairs was downstairs--beds, dressers, toys, clothes, books, shoes, papers--you name it. My husband even put some things in the garage. My son (5yrs) said that the garage looked like a junk-yard!

New floors upstairs (please excuse the junk in the background!);
snapshot of the "Crib Destroyer" (see below) in his new outfit from my parents.

The toddler successfully broke the crib. Yes, he BROKE the crib-- and it is no more! (We've had that crib since my oldest was a baby--for 10 years!) Needless to say, we weren't quite ready for him to have so much freedom and access to things in his room just yet--not with a 2 month old in the house. So, he is currently sleeping on the crib mattress on the floor while we figure out what we're doing. The baby is quickly outgrowing the bassinet so we need to do something ASAP!

We also had a dedication ceremony, offering our little one to the Lord. It was so sweet and is always a special moment to ask God's blessings over a child's life.

Our Pastor announcing our intent to dedicate "Baby J" the Lord.
The gentleman to the left is my father-in-law.

Me introducing our family and friends who stood with us.

Husband introducing "Baby J" to the congregation.

The Pastor, elders and deacons praying over Baby J and our family. . .

that we may raise him to fear the Lord.

Almost a family photo. . .baby is hidden!
This mama ended the month feeling exhausted.

JUNE 2013
This month is full as well, and honestly ladies, I don't feel like I'm always keeping up with things. . .cleaning, sleeping, shopping (kids outgrowing their shoes), reading, relaxing. . .I have to be honest--there are days when I feel overwhelmed.

My sweet baby (now 3months old and even bigger!) still likes to keep me company around 2:30 each morning--this is different for me because all of my babes slept from around 10pm to about 7am by the time they were 2 months old. I guess there's a first time for everything, huh?!? We also discovered that the baby also has a reflux issue going on and we're trying to figure out how to navigate that condition. Any suggestions???

We completed getting most of the upstairs back where it belongs. There are a few stragglers, but most of it is taken care of--whew!.

We're trying to adjust to our summer schooling schedule, summer reading program, swim practice twice a week, more doctor's appointments---DEEP BREATH!

Father's Day came and went. We were able to pamper my husband a little bit. But, the day was overshadowed by all the yard work he was doing, you know, grass cutting and mulch laying. Why all the yard work you may ask?

Well, we are having a backyard cookout, complete with fun and games! On the one hand, I am excited to see family and friends we haven't seen in a while. But on the other hand, I am really struggling to be a good hostess and honor my husband's wishes to have this event. (Side note: I struggle with hospitality on a large scale. On a smaller scale, I'm all over it. You know, one other family or a couple of close friends-- a more intimate setting. But we've invited about 15 families!!!!!) The truth is I'm tired, and it seems like I can't get things to SLOW DOWN!

And to close out this month, my husband and I are celebrating our 12th year of marriage. I am so blessed to have a husband who loves the Lord, and who loves his family. We have grown so much together and I stand in awe of a God who knew, from the beginning of time, that my husband and I needed each other.
My husband and me in a "goofy" moment!
I love that man!!!

So that my friends, is a snippet of what's gone on in the No Idle Bread household, according to me. :)I'm sure if you ask my husband, he would have a totally different take on things.  Hopefully I'll be blogging more regularly, one day, maybe, some time, in the future. :) For now, my dear sisters in Christ, please pray for me.

  1. Whew, that I got tired just reading that! :-) The little ones grow up so fast! I remember all the busy-ness that went along with having a big family when my kids were younger. So much to do but, I loved every minute. Three of my girls had reflux, and over time, they all outgrew it. As long as they were gaining weight and weren't miserable, our pediatrician allowed us to wait it out. Congrats on Baby's dedication. Telling by the pictures, it was a beautiful ceremony.

My husband also spent Father's Day doing yard work. Always something to do out there. lol

Congratulations to you and your husband! May the Lord bless you with many more years together!

  2. You are def. not being idle!!!:) It is a beautiful thing to be so overwhelmed w/ blessings that there's no time for blogging!:) i have been going through this same busy season in my life w/ only one post since March! Eek! We just delivered piglets the night before last. It went right through till 6 AM! My husband had to shower and go right to work w/o going to bed! I snuck in bed for 2 hrs. Before the kids got up. Then had to get right to handling the babies and mama! Needless to say it was a take out night and we somehow still didn't get to bed till 10:30 last night. That was a looooong day!! Phew! Praying for your strength and completely understand what you're feeling!! You have a rich full life! Praise the Lord. Be blessed!:)

  3. Stacie - I feel the "busy season" feeling! :-) My daughter struggled with severe reflux until she was about 10 months old, and it still flares up on occasion. She ended up having to be on meds for it and an apnea monitor because it would choke her in her sleep, but once she was able to be weaned off of those, a wedge pillow was helpful to keep her elevated. When she was small enough and wasn't rolling over, a wedge pillow/sleep positioner combo was handy. Also, I had to avoid dairy until she was over a year old, as well as tomatoes and other foods that were highly acidic or spicy. I'd be happy to offer more suggestions if you'd like. Feel free to email. :-) L ove seeing your updates. I haven't had time to make very many myself either!

  4. Hey it's summer! They don't need shoes. ;)
God bless you during this busy time. It won't last forever and you'll remember it with fondness someday. :)
    Blessings,
    Jen
