Marriage

My heart is SO disappointed by what our President has declared, stating that as an extension of his Christian faith, he believes that same-sex marriage should be accepted.

I believe as Christians, we must be EXTREMELY careful what we say, especially when we attach Christ to it. Also, I believe as Christians, we must proclaim the message of God with boldness and be unashamed. . .so here goes:

According to my faith as a Christian, and the Truth found in the Word of God, the Bible, I believe that Holy Matrimony (Marriage) is ordained by God, created for one man and one woman. {Gen. 2:22-25, Matt. 19:4-6, Mark 10:6-9, Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, Rom. 1:24-27}

Yes, I have sinned and I'm sure I'll sin again (thank God for His Grace and Redemption, because I need it!). But just because I have sinned doesn't mean that I cannot, or should not, proclaim the Truth found in God's Word.

This is not a political message. This is not a social message. This is not a message to gain popularity. This is not a trendy message. This is not a hate message. What it is, is a message of Love. I cannot Love when I don't tell the Truth.

"Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." -Proverbs 27:5, 6

  1. Amen! You are spot-on! I cannot speak to the president's faith - only God knows if his claim to be a Christ-follower is true or not - but Scripture does say we'll be known by our fruits. And I see so little in terms of how this man actually obeys the Bible that I wonder. It's one thing to hear the truth of the Word and struggle with it; it's another thing entirely to selectively choose what one decides to follow. And, unfortunately, this is yet another area where something other than what the Bible says is guiding that man.

  2. Hi Tina,

    Thanks for commmenting!

I'm not sure about all of the in's and out's of our President's faith. . .he will have to give an account of his own actions.

Meanwhile, what I am certain of is this: our President is in need of prayer, just like all the other "would-be" leaders and public officials in our country.

I am also certain that because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I must accept ALL of God's Word, no matter how unpopular it may seem to be.

  3. The very fact that the elected leader of this nation has this value system is an indictment of the Church. We haven't spoken Truth in Love and so the culture continues to slip into an abyss of immorality where good is called evil and evil is called good. We must allow Him to purify us and make us holy as individuals, then we will walk in the power of the Spirit and live a life that is filled with Life, drawing others to Him. When His People walk in personal holiness, their lives create a contrast that the Lord uses to bring conviction that leads to repentance to those who witness Him in the members of His Body.

  4. Yes, Anne! This is so true.

Sanctification. . ."but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”" -1Peter 1:15, 16

We have to be salt and light.

  5. I agree with all of these comments. I pray many eyes will be opened and His people would call upon Him and repent. Not only is our culture in a bad place, but so is the church.
    Blessings.

  6. Hi Jennifer,

I pray many eyes will be opened, too. Repentance is so very much needed; as the body of Christ, we have to reflect Him in every way.

    God bless you as well!

  10. Hi Kristin,

May God receive the glory when we are salt and light, as He has called us to be.

    I hope you are well!

  11. I am encouraged by your boldness Stacie. I wrestle often with when or if to share God's word on this matter. I am not ashamed of it but often it seems like casting pearls before swine-- most don't want to hear it... And so mostly I say nothing but then that doesn't feel right either... Nonetheless I appreciate this post. God bless you for it. Amen.

  12. Hi April,

I know exactly what you mean; I've been there. On this particular day though, I just couldn't take it anymore. On my Facebook feed, there were so many maligning God's Word, and openly and unashamedly proclaim wrong as right.

In times past, I ignored it, or would mention it only to my husband. But this time, the Holy Spirit wouldn't let me rest. I kept hearing Him say, "be either hot or cold for me, but don't be lukewarm." So I made this post my
    Facebook status. . .

The great thing is that God's Word always serves His purpose. When we speak the Truth in love into someone's life, God is at work.
